SKATALITES - Essential Artist Collection - DoLP (clear vinyl)

Led by legendary saxophonist Tommy McCook, the Skatalites included a who's who of Kingston artists, including trombonist Don Drummond, tenor saxophonist Roland Alphonso, drummer Lloyd Knibb and keyboard prodigy Jackie Mittoo. Formed in the summer of 1964, this powerhouse instrumental combo dominated the island's music industry for a glorious 18 months. Most of their work was produced by famed Treasure Isle Records boss Arthur "Duke" Reid.

The highlights of their work for the famous producer are presented here.
The 28-track compilation offers the best introduction yet to the music of the incredible, versatile and hugely influential Skatalites.
